The primary sources I see most often are Medicaid, Veterans Administration, and long-term care insurance.
There are other sources that are less well-known or might apply simply because of your own particular situation. I have in mind a statute in Indiana that says if you were raised by your parents to at least the age of 16, you are responsible for their costs on old age! Kind of scary for families and especially children. Another might be loans you made to others, or stock you didn’t realize you had (for instance from when insurance companies de-mutualized a few years ago).
So sometimes it is sleuthing work.
Say a little more about what you want to know, William.
thank you for posting this article as I found this article very helpful. what type of long term health care do you help others pay for?
William–
Thanks for asking!
